I have enjoyed our time of making so many people happy. I have so much going on in my life now that I do not have enough time to do a Good service to all in need. I received a call tonight about an XBOX 360 that had sound but no Video. This is a symptom similar to RROD or sometimes called 3RLOD ( 3 Red lights of Death). The fix for the No Video but with Sound is a XClamp Replacement Mod.
A note on Towel Fix. DO NOT DO IT. It will eventually Destroy the CPU or GPU permenantly.
XBOX 360 Periodic Maintenance to keep from having the RROD. Take your XBOX 360 to an Air Compressor with a noozzle, and blow into the back right beside the Power connection. Then blow air from top of the xbox to the bottom. This will unclog the radiator cooling heatsink and allow ample cooling to continue. The reason the RROD happens is heat and it gets hot enough to melt the SMD Solder paste. Microsofts manufacturing evidently screened too much solder onto some spots. This increased the likelyhood of the solder to bridge. The best way to keep the solder from remelting and bridging, is to maintain cooling. Even if you add external cooling, you could still have RROD. External cooling will actually bring more dust into the Xbox and clog the radiator faster.

So your total cost would be $68.60. We have about an 80 percent success rate on repairing RROD. We believe the reason some XBOX’s do not recover is due to the Towel Trick.

Contact Sony for repair at www.Playstation.com It is frustrating to call them.
The word is that Sony is Improving Customer Service and will repair or replace your PS3 for $150 if it is out of warranty. You will need a Receipt to claim Warranty and free repair. Walmart and other can and sometimes can reprint you a receipt. You will need Credit card ledger to show date of purchase at the Merchant like Walmart.

Another Option:
A fellow Fixya.com Expert runs Videogame911.com. They show that they repair PS3 consoles. Check the links on the right of the page to go to their website to setup a repair. They are accredited by the Better Business Buraeu. This will probably be more expensive than Sony, but they will save your data and also get you the same console back. They also offer to upgrade your hard drive from 20, 40, 60, or 80 GB to 320 GB.
The PSP Slim model has arrived recently. We are beginning to see this arrive at the Playstation Clinic. Current LCD screen prices on PSP have dropped to $40 each and total cost of a LCD repair on a PSP slim is now $65.30 including Priority Return shipping.

The Playstation Clinic is having very good success in reviving XBOX 360 consoles when they do not start up and show 3 blinking lights. Do not confuse the symptom with 4 Blinking lights as that means you have an A/V problem like set to HDMI and hooked up as Composite, or vice versa.

I am sorry to tell you that The Playstation Clinic has decided stop accepting Playstation 3 consoles for repair. Sony will not distribute parts, and the unreliability of the PS3 causes us to not trust used Parts. Also, the parts are so few and far between, the price is rediculously high. Supply and demand economics at work. We refuse to further add to the frustration of the PS3 owners by putting an unreliable part in the PS3 and have to charge over half what a used PS3 costs these days. Again, please realize we have worked on PS3 enough to know that the PS3 is very unreliable due to the Cell Broadband Processor getting too hot. The heat transfer compound that accelerates the transfer of heat from the Processors to the cooling system will dry up. This happens after about 8 months to 1 year of normal use. What will happen is the processor will get hot and trip the PS3 off with 2 beeps and a red light. The heat is so intense and it cannot escape fast enough destroying the Cell broadband Processor or some of its cores. The result is the temperature overload sensor inside the processor will not allow the PS3 to turn on. We are anxiously awaiting Sony to release a Cell Broadband Processor that stays cool. Sony may not report that they have developed a new processor due to liability risk of admitting that the existing Processor gets way too hot. The Cooling system is the most elaborate system I have ever seen and should keep the processors cool, but the transfer compound is common and is not designed to handle the constant high temperatures. I believe the Compound is silicon based and a phnomenon called Silicon migration occurs causing the compound to dry up.
